Great chess sim, faster than the original
All of the Chessmaster games are great chess simulators, and with each subsequent release the games built on top of the lessons learned from the older titles. Chessmaster 4000 Turbo offers a speedier version of the Chessmaster 4000 game, which meant that for the slower machines of the time, more difficult AI opponents moves will take less to process. The game offers you a good amount of tutorials, a very good graphical set of tables and chess pieces and also nicely simulated chess AI counterparts, which allow you to learn, develop and have fun with the game. Even the later games in the series don't manage to produce very playable 3D tables, and this version is even more so problematic, but that won't matter. If you choose to play on some of the classic 2D tables, with 2D representations of the pieces you will definitely be alright. Also, you can choose as many or as few assists as you would like to use, depending on your skill level and amount of involvement with the game you wish to put into it. Overall, Chessmaster 4000 Turbo is a good take on the Chessmaster 4000 title and a modern, good title in the series to rival future Chessmaster releases.
