Are you a Dixie or a Yankee?
CWG 2 is a great sequel to the original CWG strategy game
that will certainly keep your hair up and your heart racing for most of the game's duration. The game's high quality graphics
, fantastically written AI and great back story mixed with a fast paced and always exciting gameplay make this game a far superior game to its origial. So, what's the game about? Set in the time of the famous American Civil War
, the game allows you to relive some of the greatest moments in this war's history in terms you see fit. After taking either the Confederate or the Union side, you get to walk in the shoes of some of the greatest men in American History - Grant, Lee, whoever you want. It truly is an awesome privilege and that alone is worthy of playing the game. It won't easy on you, either. You will constantly be alert and the war
will be on the hinges right to the very end. Playing the campaign truly immerses you in these historic
events and after you've finished, it'll be a while until you are adjusted to th actual war. When this happens, you know that the game is very, very good. CWG is truly worthy to be called one of the best turn based
strategy games out there.

A good hex based combat games
I'll be the first to admit, I normally shy away from hex based combat games
. When I originally bought CWG2
, I did so only because I am such a huge Civil War
game fan. I was pleasantly surprised to find a game with a deep strategic element
where the AI keeps you on your toes at all times. Perhaps the greatest feature of this game is the campaign. How well you do in a particular mission will determine how much money you have to spend on upgrading your troops for future battles. I would strongly recommend this game for strategy enthusiasts looking for a challenge or a long campaign.
