A Crazy Racing Game
Hi Octane is a race combat video game developed by Bullfrog and based upon their earlier Magic Carpet game code. I found this to be one of the craziest racing games out there, but not as crazy as the Carmageddon series. The game is one of those crazy racing games, where you can either race normally or blast your opponents while donig so. The game offers a choice of 6 of vehicles which look like hovercrafts, which are differentiated by their stats, such as top speed, armor, firepower and weight. The weapons in the game are pretty standard: a machine gun and missile launchers. One original thing is that the weapons heat up and you need to let them cool down. I haven't this kind of thing in any of these kind of racing games and to tell you the truth, it's not even bad. The are power ups along the track, refueling stations, because yeah you have to refuel, otherwise you lose, and don't forget that your ammunition is limited, so you have salvage it for later. The only objective of the game is that you need to finish the race first. It would have been nice to have a second way to win by killing the other racers. The game, in the end, is quite a great one and is worth owning and playing.
