The kingdom simulator
Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim is a real-time strategy game released by MicroProse in the beloved year of 2000, game also expanded in 2001 with the Majesty: The Northern Expansion pack. The gameplay consists two modes, single-player and multiplayer. In either of the modes the player impersonates the king of a kingdom located somewhere within the fantastical realm of Ardania. In single-player the player can thrive within 19 scenarios the do not have a relation what so ever, in matter of a plot line. The only way of achieving anything military is by hiring heroes. There are several units available (and autonomous) that include peasants, guards, tax collectors and caravans, each type having a certain job to do, as in every RTS. The terrain is dynamically generated and each quest (even the same repeated) won't look the same "from the satellite". A feature of this game is that there is no fog of war and you can easily follow the movements in the explored area (uncovered from the pitch black). The player can perform building construction and enhancing, can hire heroes, offer rewards, cast spells and use building abilities. The most important building in the game is the palace that if it's lost means that the game is over (that's why it's so important!). The heroes (the foam of this game) are also autonomous and various flavored but can be influenced to perform task by means of reward. This game is overall a fine game and you might want to give it and it's expansion pack a try.
