Great Hockey Action

I'm not really into hockey, not because I hate the sport, but because I haven't grew up with. And no, playing hockey video games doesn't mean that I grew to appreciate the sport. It's an interesting sport, but at the same time it can get violent. While I mostly prefer to play some NBA video games, I have stumbled upon NHL 97, for which I didn't have too much expectations. But I gave the game a try and enjoyed it. Developed by EA Sports, the developers who annually release new NBA, NHL and FIFA games, NHL 97 is a great game and looks like an improved version over previous one. First of all, the gameplay is much better. In previous one the controls were okay, but not as okay. Here, it's all arcade style, just the way I like it. Other innovations I have found in the gameplay is that players can be injured, which wasn't implemented in the previous one and fighting on the ring, which I personally enjoy doing every now and then. And again, this wasn't present in any other previous NHL game. The graphics could have been better, but it gives a nice late '90s feel to it. The sounds are good, but sometimes it can get annoying. All in all, even though I'm not a fan of hockey, I have found this game to be both entertaining and fun.
