Just as good if not better than the first one
Simon the Sorcerer the original
was a really fun adventure game
. The follow-up, Simon the Sorcerer II: The Lion, the Wizard and the Wardrobe
follows in its footsteps and keeps the recipe alive, in style and with a new cool little story. While the game might interest a wider audience I see it more as a children's adventure game, so playing it with your younger siblings or children will really make the experience even more enthralling. What happens in this game is, the Evil wizard Sordid
manages to get resurrected and now he is on a hunt to bring Simon down. Sordid builds himself a robot body in his secluded Fortress of Doom, but, because he's a big clumsy vengeful wizard, he manages to send Simon a magical wardrobe
that instead arrives at the doorstep of Calypso. Yes, the premise is quite funny, but the child in you is certainly going to look past that. And the game itself is so much fun to play. As with the entire series, the tone is lighthearted, and those that were brought on 90s literature and movies will find so many references to the pop culture of the era. There's going to be Doctor Who references
, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe references and much more. So, solving the puzzles while holding a smile when you catch a glimpse of the authors intents will furthermore enrich the experience. Play this one after giving the original a go, you will not be disappointed.
Good old 80386 memories
This was a great game more then 10 years ago and I thik it still is. The resolution is not exactly high definition but the graphics are very neat, the sound is great (at least in the German version) and the humor is awesome. Really if it happens you like this kind of game this is a must have. So on a friday afternoon back in 1995 there was nothing better to do for a geek then put the the orignal Simon the sorcerer II T-shirt on (yes the game came with a t-shirt), boot up the good old 80386 and whatch Simon make fun of some fairytales.
