Old RPG

Ultima 4 is a role-playing game, release by Origin Systems in 1985 for Apple II systems. It is the first game from the Age of Enlightenment trilogy that consists also of Ultima V: Warriors of Destiny (1988) and Ultima VI: The False Prophet (1990). It differs from the first series, the world of Sosaria suffering radical geographical changes, the quarters of the world disappeared and new cities were built to replace the lost ones. By the rule of Lord British's, the land is renamed to Britannia. The game's main focus is the main's character development in virtuous life, becoming a spiritual leader and example to the people from Britannia. The protagonist must understand and exercise the Eight Virtues (Honesty, Compassion, Valor, Justice, Sacrifice, Honor, Spirituality, and Humility). After prooving the understanding of these virtues, locating several artefacts and descending in the Stygian Abyss (where the codex of Ultimate Wisdom is located), the protagonist becomes an Avatar. You are asked various ethical dilemmas by a Gypsy using a tarot. Based on the highest prioritized virtue, the character's nature is determined (compassion bard, honor paladin, sacrifice tinker). The ways to become an Avatar is reach enlightenment in all virtues, obtained player's actions and meditation at shrines. Overall, if you have played the first series then playing this game will improve your experience in the story but you can also play this game as a non-fan and be enlightened in the Eight Virtues.
