A Fabulous FPS

Unreal II: The Awakening is a first person shooter video game, part of the Unreal series. The game was developed by Legend Entertainment and published by Atari. This one of the best jaw-dropping games I have ever played in whole life, due to the fact that during the period when the game was released, I was still playing game like Doom and Wolfenstein 3D. When I've got my next computer, I've had received the game as a bonus for purchasing it. It was already installed so I've to play it. And oh boy I've had a lot of fun with it. You control a former Marine John Dalton, a Terran Colonial Authority Marshal whose job is to patrol remote areas of space far away from any real action. He is called back into service to retrieve seven pieces of an ancient artifact thought to make a powerful weapon when assembled. The plot follows a pre-set linear path like many first-person shooters, with the character going to various planets in search of the artifacts. Level design at each location is also linear, with a certain amount of puzzle solving and key finding. The gameplay was innovative for me. It was the first FPS game where I could jump. Anything else is great, but it's typical for any other FPS game. The graphics, on the other hand, are superb and even to this day it is still impressive. The Unreal engine made this to age well and impress gamers even today. Overall, Uneral II: The Awakening is a fabulous FPS and an example of a game that has aged well.
