Valhalla, also known as Ragnarok, is a role-playing game created by Norsehelm Productions. As the title suggests, the game takes place in Norse Mythology. You play as one of the 6 classes available in the game: Viking, Blacksmith, Woodsman, Conjurer, Alchemist and Sage, each with it's unique traits and abilities. No matter what class you choose, the game will always start the same way: in your village that has been abandoned and now populated by wild creatures. Once you start playing the game, you might see that it bears a strong resemblence to Ultima
, which plays almost the same. Valhalla, on the other hand, has a more complex gameplay mechanic, which hardcore fans would surely love. Some might get turned of with the overwhelming user interface, but if you get used to them, the game isn't that relatively hard. One cool feature I have found in this game is the unique ghost mechanic. Once you adventurer dies and start the game with another one, you will the past adventurer's corpse with all the items(except for some rare items that have been removed) and the state of the map of that time. The graphics are colorful and pleasant to look at, the mini-map is very useful if you want to know where you are headed, and while the game has no music, the ambient sounds are quite pleasant to hear... for about a couple of times until you mute your speakers. All in all, Valhalla, or Ragnarok, is a great oldschool adventure game and if you're into RPGs or Norse mythology, you should definitively try this game out. It's one of the greats!
