The original, but cleaned and with extra content

Worms is the classic TBS cartoony strategy of the 90s the kind of game you'd have installed on your machine for those times when you needed to unwind, solo or with friends. The recipe is quite simple: you have control over a spazzy team of worms, armed with crazy weapons, amongst which exploding sheep, weird looking grenade launchers and other such crazy utensils are the norm. During the mid 90s this game sure was nice graphically, with colorful though not nauseating graphics, nicely animated annelids and other extras to see you playing for hours on end. While today a game such as Worms World Party might make a better match for modern PCs, Worms Plus will take you back into the past with nothing more than a DOSBox installed and a bit of patience until you learn the controls. The beauty of the game stemmed from the combination of skill and tactics it asked of the player, as each game posed a number of challenges. Some were tactical, which worm to shoot, which one to move, how probable it would be that a certain shot will reach its target and so on. On the other hand the game was cartoonish and very energizing, making it the perfect TBS action game to pick up, almost in a genre of its own making. So, without a doubt, give it a try, it's worthwhile on all fronts, for TBS lovers, casual or hardcore alike.

A golden classic

It's been a long time since I have played any games from the Worms franchise. The very first Worms game that I have played was Worms World Party. I'm not familiar with the very first Worms game, but after playing Worms Plus I have come to the conclusion that even the earliest titles are a lot of fun. I don't really know what the "Plus" stands for, but I assume that it has more content than the original Worms.First of all, the gameplay is a lot of fun. If you're familiar with the controls with older Worms titles(e.g. Worms World Party), than you are all set to play this one. A minor complaint, the controls take some time to get used to, and unless you have the instruction manual for this game, some actions are a chore to find out(e.g. I had trouble finding the jump button). Another complaint is that there is no(at least I haven't found one) in-game keymapping, which in the case of most games is annoying. However, these are just minor complaints and do not ruin the fun you can have playing Worms Plus.If you wish to create your own team, you can do it in this game. You can manage a team of 4 worms, each with custom names that you can set. You can also select which grave your worms should have when they die and a choice of voices. The UI of the game looks good, as well for the graphics. During gameplay, you can bring up your list of weapons just like in the later titles. If you do not have friends to play with, the game is also fun when playing with the AI, which can be both a challenging and fun adversary. All in all, I think that Worms Plus deserves a place amongst other classic games. Personally, I consider this one "A Golden Classic".
