Doom 2D
Doom as a sidescroller shooter!
This fan conversion of Doom is a cool action/sidescroller/shooter product that converts the original pretty thoroughly and does a good job of taking the game from 3D to 2D and still managing to keep some elements together. So, all in all, it's a fun experience, which does a great job of it all. And the feel of the game is definitely Doom like, mostly because Doom 2D uses the same graphical assets. Thus, you're there immediately, and more over, that feel that this you're playing a prototypical game still holds, since the 2D game is just oh so raggedly, with the textures of the original used in ways that do a great job of making this look old! So, prepare to take on the same (miniaturized!) hordes of zombies, with the same weaponry, and, thus, just have the same effect of relaxation and love of shooting undead things in the head, but in 2D. I thoroughly recommend this highly playable bundle of strangeness! It's got all you want out of a game like this – the nostalgia element, the novelty and the cruel pixel hunting fun that you want, all in one rad instance!
A fun and interesting perspective of the legendary game
When Doom first came out, it rocked the gaming world so hard that to this day there are millions of fans still playing it, almost 20 years later. The game has had tons of fan made expansions, modifications and sequels, and this game is a fan made 2D version of the legendary original. The game is true to the original in almost every aspect - except the game is in 2D. The design is also the same ,the aliens look like they really do, only from the side, and the levels from the original are also the same, just with a different point of view. Fans will absolutely love this experience without feeling anything left out from their favorite action game. It gives its share of blood and gore, which is one of the most substantial parts of the game. The game is fun and hugely addictive, so don't be surprised if you play this game for hours and hours untill you finally play it until the very end. The sound effects are convincing and true to the original, and the visuals are full with detailed texture and colors. This game is an absolute must have for all Doom fans, a nice perspective from the original and insanely fun and exciting. Five stars all the way! And if you get tired of the Doom empire and want to play something similar, try Duke 2, also a great 2D version of another legendary game.
