A combination of RPG and adventure gaming, well executed
Black Isle Studios, the ones that produced some of the best known cRPGs of all time have also been the brains and soul behind this lesser know, though well polished and meaty RPG and adventure combination. The beauty of this game however, lies not as much in the unimpeded free roaming as it does in the setting. You will be part of a universe that is only so much like our own, but the timeframe is a different one. Thus, you will get too meet Galileo, Shakespeare, and Da Vinci and the fact is, with the rigors of expectation from a game, these encounters don't feel pushed! Yep, it's one of those gems that thought that relatively low pop culture idols could make people want to play this one, and initially this was their way of marketing the game. But what happened was, people though this to be some arty fartsy product, which, instead, was a far more thought out and actually fun action RPG. I mean, this one has 4 types of warriors you can embody, also four classes to align yourself with and get benefits from and, also lots and lots of action encounters. So, if you love top down RPG games, don't miss this one. It is a different beast, but a beast that is as fun, if not more fun to play than Baldur's Gate or Torment!
