Maniac Mansion Deluxe

Adventure 2004 Windows LucasFan Games Third Person Humorous

By the fans for the most loyal fans!

Maniac Mansion Deluxe is a remake of the original Lucas Arts adventure game, Maniac Mansion a staple of the weirdness, the beauty and the power of classic adventure gaming. So, if you are not stapled in the multi choice set of controls that used loads of verbs to tell the computer what to do next, and yet you still want to see what all the fuss was all about with this game, then this remake has definitely got to be it! It's reduced the complexity of the controls, it has made the game look much better, with higher resolution background and better animations and yet it has managed to stay true to the original, not only in the overall build, but actually in terms of details, in terms of how the puzzles and the story evolves and the other ides that made the original a unique adventure game. The story is simple, but it evolves really nicely; you have to explore this mansion, and the more you know, the more a sort of a bleak story (with funny under and overtones, more like a pastiche, like a spoof!) emerges, that makes fun of scary movie tropes and even games of this sort, of the 80s. It's a really great game, and the love of the developers shows through every seam and crease, and if you lived in the 80s, the pop references will really pop out and put a smile on your face!

A remake of a legend

Maniac Mansion Deluxe is a remake of the game that is consider revolutionary in the world of adventure gaming and it is deservedly so - the game's use of sarcasm and pun, combined with the cheesy but oh-so-adorable plot line left nobody indifferent. That's why the entire gaming world went bananas when this great remake was released in 2004. It's virtually unchanged - the same plotline, the same dialogues to the word, the same game all over again, only in better graphics. The game is like a restored painting - it's still as beautiful as it was 20 years ago, only now slightly improved, and still adored by many. The games is also great because it has great, although sometimes a bit too hard puzzles, that have multiple solutions, and there are four alternate endings, depending how you go through the game. The game looks and plays beautifully. The graphics are much improved and it's really great to see such a cool game in much clearer and more beautiful view. The characters are cartoonishly designed and just lovable. Overall, if you liked the original Maniac Mansion, you should definitely see this version, and if you have never seen or heard about the game (shame on you!), then this is something that is a must have in every adventurer's collection.
