With a bras lantern and an Elvish sword to greatness!
The second Zork game takes you from your very humble state in which the first game had left you, with a bras lantern and an Elvish sword in your inventory and continues form there. The same basic game mechanics apply here too, intently, the underground exploration, this time with no clear goal set from the start. But, you'll be guided by curiosity at first, of which the game does a good job of quenching, and then will slowly set you up with a more clearly cut goal. What this larger scope goal is? Well, it is a clear cut goal of learning to use magic, magic which you will also need in order to foil Dimwit Flathead's plan to get you skewered! It's the same funny kind of game that the first Zork had showed itself to be, and also, a very intense puzzle crafter of a game, in a very enticing and, for a text based game, very palpable, very immediate. That is why, even if you hate the idea of typing commands and wrestling a nasty parser, (which, at times, is something that Zork 2 - The Wizard of Frobozz makes itself a victim of) this game sure deserves it. And do download all the Zork games, they are all fantastic representatives of text based adventuring.
