Wizardry VII - Crusaders of the Dark Savant

One of the most difficult but rewarding Wizardry titles

You know this game means business, when even the simplest of actions is linked to a skill set. For instance, swimming, even if you won't be doing a lot of that in the game, this little element is still linked to a skill! And that's how it is for the entire game, so, you really have to work a lot to get to create a character that is really well produced, so that you will not be underpowered during your missions. At any rate, Wizardry VII - Crusaders of the Dark Savant, for all the difficulty it poses, and, granted, if you really have the time to put into it (tens of hours at the least!) will show you that even oldschool RPGs can be interesting in their story. Yeah, the basis is as classic as they get, but nonetheless, that doesn't stop you from actually enjoying it, on the contrary, it's the game's cornerstone, to sort of put it like that. Also, another thing that Wizardry VII - Crusaders of the Dark Savant does is give you skill points for actions that you actually perform, so, it's got a little of that The Elder Scrolls Morrowind thing going for itself, years before it was a common (and yet divisive amongst gamers, hehe!) way to resolve leveling up. So, yeah, it's a rather hard game, a complex one, but the story quite of deserves it. Also, be prepared to spend lots of time with it.

Not so easily forgettable

Wizardry: Crusaders of the Dark Savant is a 1992 fantasy role-playing game, following the sixth game of the series, which is another success full of mythology. Your choices and actions from the previous game will influence this installment's openings and locations where the action will take place. Beside this, you have the freedom to ally with the faction you were supposed to follow, or to become its enemy. Several things remained the same, as in Wizardry 6 Bane of the Cosmic Forge. These elements are: the races, the classes, the skills and the magic system. It will be a real pleasure to witness your character's advanced development throughout the game. You can create a team of 6 players, each with their abilities, professions and statistics. And these categories contain numerous treats, so the party's creation is quite customizable. Unlike other games, the character is now able to climb and swim, having a new skilful management: diplomacy (responsible for the way you engage in dialogues and various interactions). The graphics bring a favorable perception upon the general aspect of the game, the animations are decent, and the sounds aren't that enjoyable, so, you may turn them off. Overall, take this game, that won't be forgotten that easily.

7th Wizardry episode

Whilst picking up where Wizardry VI left off, this installment can easily be played on its own. The characters are free to explore a world filled with fiendish puzzles and devious adversaries. In gameplay it's quite a step up from its predecessor. W7, Crusaders of the Dark Savant possibly kept me entertained for longer than most of the other classics in the genre such as Baldur's Gate or Eye of the Beholder. The freedom you can get in the game is phenomenal, where each character can eventually get each profession, skill or class.
